Cut&Paste

What an exciting event. 3 rounds. Designers from across the globe. All competing for the championship title.

One theme: “Break That Funk” —> How would you inspire someone experiencing creative blockage?

Final stop on the global tour: Lower East Side at the Angel Orensanz Foundation.

Picture empty PBR cans, hundreds of designers, creative types, live work showcased on 6 screens in what looks and feels like an old abandoned (yet lovely) church, a photo booth, and nothing but great energy to inspire all. Memorable for sure.

In Chernock’s vision, MetroCards would be used as marketing tools for various New York neighborhoods and attractions. “Ideally I would like to make 50, print them, and place them around the city as a promotional component,” she says. (She has not contacted the Metropolitan Transportation Authority about adopting her designs, but says she would “like to get their attention.”)

Art of the Menu — A collection of menus from all over the world with a focus on typography and art/design. A couple years ago, Daily Candy featured a pop-up shop in Greenpoint, Brooklyn that sold vintage menu covers from Chanterelle, a restaurant in Tribeca that had been in business for 30 years and is now closed. Art is everywhere. How delightful!

Scott Wise, you make me laugh. Thank you. His “Always Remember” series is brilliant and definitely worth taking a stroll through.
